2802 Water as Life Hazard
I found this notice in Abbey Park, near to the river.
So, far from being the absolute essence of life, if you go near water, make sure you dilute it with plenty of whisky!

2502 Classic Swan
I suppose this is a photographic cliché, but I never tire of seeing the beauty of swans. This one was pictured at Watermead Country Park, Leicester. Today was the first day when I managed to get through on the muddy paths along the river, and it was well worth it, despite the less than ideal lighting conditions.

2302 Supermarket Progress
Last time I looked at this supermarket site, it was little more than an earthwork. Now there is some interesting structure goin on.

2002 Street Musician
There seem to be a lot of musicians performing in town at the moment - no doubt part of the Comedy Festival in Leicester.

1902 Snowdrop Meadow
This is actually what I laughingly call my lawn, which is currently occupied by snowdrops. This is not at all a problem, and it's good to see anything still living after our recent deluges.

1702 Dinner
For reasons I don't yet understand, the BBC Radio 4 PM Programme asked people to send in photographs of their dinner.
It has been a thoroughly miserable day for taking photos outdoors, so I gave in and produced this one. Oh, my, I don't suppose fish and chips is very Radio 4!

1602 The Runner
Mercifully, we had, at last, a fine and calm day when the usual population of the riverside came back; joggers, cyclists, dog walkers, and families out for a stroll.

1502 First Dandelion
Found an unexpected sign of spring today. It's amazing what can happen if it stops raining for a minute!
1402 Obscure Mural
This, whatever it is, is on the wall of a factory, which I only noticed because I trudged by mistake down a muddy path to nowhere in particular.
It will become even more obscure when all that undergrowth begins to shoot up in the spring!

1202 Windswept Riverside
It was a very wet and windy day, where some parts of the UK had hurricane force winds. It was not quite so dramatic here, just rather rough!

0902 Is this food?
My guide dog inspects a strange plant in the Unity Garden, Drummond Road, Leicester. It must be strange, as being half Labrador, he normally assumes everything is food!

0702 Wheelchairs must go left here!
This just shows how misleading a simple signpost can be if you're as visually impaired as I am.
Very often, signs are too high up, too small and too faint. This one has the added problem of the real message being less discernible than all the other stuff. The disability symbol is clear enough, and so if the left arrow, but the wording that is surely the most important bit was for me indecipherable until I could blow up this photo on my screen.
The same sort of thing happens with labelling in shops. Very often, I can't work out what the product is in a particular package, but I become well aware that it's got some silly slogan on it such as "taste the difference" or "our value range", which are printed very large and bold, while the name and description of the product requires a microscope. I cannot be the only one in the world to face this silly problem!

0602 Cycklist in a Blur
He flew past me in a blur, honest, gov. It isn't very often that something in the foreground is blurred while the rest of the picture is clear!

0502 Under Construction
The birth of a supermarket looks like a fairly unpromising spectre of earth-moving machines and rubble at this stage.

0302 Rush-hour Emergency
An ambulance needs to get through almost gridlocked traffic, so needs all lights and sirens blazing.

0202 Candlemas in the Sun
Candlemas is, I suppose, an almost forgotten festival, and it was today, Febrary 2nd. In my part of the world, it was well worth celebrating, as it was a beautiful day, and a welcome respite from the storms of recent times.
Old country saying.....
A good goose should lay
by Candlemas Day.
I did hear plenty of geese in some ferment today, and at one point several of them started a chorus as they do when one of their number lays an egg, but unfortunately for us, it was very likely in a hidden place on an island in the lake, so there are no photos of the happy event.
I've also heard this saying as
A good goose should lay
by Valentine's Day.
Of course, the scansion is the same, so it could be either. The calendar changed in the 18th century, and we lost 11 days, so it could be that the Valentine's version is the more modern one.
I've made a slideshow of today's 60 photos, and posted it on Youtube.

0102 Space Centre and Scudding Clouds
A strong wind was blowing around sunset, with rapidly moving clouds of various colours. Note the strange lighting effects around the Space Centre building.
