3103 Large Print Van

If only everything was printed so big and bold! I-SPY also a normal-print road sign.

3003 Wild Flower Meadow

Along the river near to where I live, wild flower meadows are establishing themselves, after the Council removed all that nasty ecology - nettles, willowherb and so on - several years ago. I'll admit it's a lot prettier than it was along there.

2803 Community Woodland

This little wood has been planted in Watermead Country Park, at the southern, Leicester City, end. Birdsong and the odd clump offlowers tell you that spring is arriving.

2703 European Street Food Market

These food markets were at first a Christmas phenomenon but seem to be held all round the year now.

2603 Generation in the Wasteland

I'm not sure what the fascination was for these lads in kicking about among the industrial detritus near the water tower. By the sounds I heard, they were retrieving, and throwing about, several metal objects. Scavenging, maybe.

2503 Along the Garden Path

I hope the owners of the garden didn't mind too much that this strange fellow with a camcorder peeked over their fence!

2403 Magnolia

I'm always amazed that this tree can thrive so welll amongst the concrete and the traffic. It stands by a very busy junction on Abbey Lane, Leicester.

2303 Space Centre and Water Tower

The National Space Centre and the Victorian Water Tower beside the River Soar in Leicester.  A background of storm clouds is building up.

These buildings are on opposite sides of the river, but not quite opposite each other, so I had been wondering if I could contrive to get both of them into the same photograph. Well, it was a bit tricky, to say the least, but here it is.

2003 Pavement Clutter

It really is a bit much when cars aren't content to occupy the road and occupy the pavements as well.  Suggest double yellow lines on pavements.

1903 Metal Puzzle

I genuinely don't know what this spiked wheel thing is. Artwork or piece of canal tackle? I really don't know.

1803 Street at Night

We now have a mixture of yellow sodium and white street lights. Hmm,, still not sure about it.

1403 Victorian Water Tower

Taken from the new foot/cycle bridge over the river at Abbey Meadows, Leicester. The tower seems to be derelict, but I understand it will form part of the plan for a riverside regeneration.

1103 Forsythia

It's always a good sign when the forsythia starts to bloom. It's a definite sign of spring.

1003 Dog's Dinner

It was my guide dog's 4th birthday today, which occasionaed a special dinner of lamb's liver and rice, marked up with 4 carrot sticks in lieu of candles.

Many happy returns, Zym!

0903 The Pioneer

This is a statue alongside the National Space Centre in Leicester that commemorates the space walk by US astronaut Ed White in 1965. The Space Centre building is in the background.

0803 Street Furniture

What is this new fashion for slinging mattresses, fridges and now chairs into the street? Is this the Tony Blair style pavement café society taking off?

0403 It must be Spring!

My guide dog led me unwittingly to this plant. I was surprised and pleased to see this flowering on the riverbank.
