One unusual feature of Abbey Park, Leicester is this lavender maze, evidently dreamt up over a few glasses in the pub.

This was meant to be a soft play area for children, but I daresay many adults will enjoy it too.

This is a view of the Redland Sensory Garden in Abbey Park, Leicester. The garden has a wide variety of plants that have leaves of diverse textures, colours and, in some cases, aromas. Some art objects are also included, and a small lawn area. The garden is intended to be accessible to people with a variety of disabilities.

I found this notice in Abbey Park, near to the river. So, far from being the absolute essence of life, if you go near water, make sure you dilute it with plenty of whisky!

This just shows how misleading a simple signpost can be if you're as visually impaired as I am.

Very often, signs are too high up, too small and too faint. This one has the added problem of the real message being less discernible than all the other stuff. The disability symbol is clear enough, and so if the left arrow, but the wording that is surely the most important bit was for me indecipherable until I could blow up this photo on my screen.

The same sort of thing happens with labelling in shops. Very often, I can't work out what the product is in a particular package, but I become well aware that it's got some silly slogan on it such as "taste the difference" or "our value range", which are printed very large and bold, while the name and description of the product requires a microscope. I cannot be the only one in the world to face this silly problem!
